![]() Iran shuts down Hormuz again, rejects Trump’s claims In a statement on Saturday, the spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters said Tehran would allow only a limited number of oil tankers and commercial vessels to pass in a “managed manner,” based on prior understandings reached during negotiations. The spokesperson accused the United States of repeated violations and “acts of piracy” at sea, saying these actions had prompted Iran to restore full operational control over the waterway. “As a result, control over the Strait of Hormuz has been returned to its previous state, and this strategic route is under strict management by the Armed Forces,” he said. He added that restrictions would remain in place until Washington allows the free movement of Iranian vessels and cargo. Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf sharply criticised Trump, accusing him of making “a series of false claims” about the situation. “Such lies did not win them the war, and they will not bring results in negotiations,” Ghalibaf wrote on X. He warned that as long as what Iran calls a blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz would not be fully open, stressing that transit would occur only along designated routes and with Tehran’s approval. “The opening or closing of the strait is determined on the ground, not on social media,” he added. Earlier, Trump claimed that Iran had agreed to fully open what he referred to as the “Iran Strait,” saying it was “ready for full passage” and that progress had been made toward a broader deal covering nuclear and regional issues. Speaking at an event organised by Turning Point USA, Trump said the development would mark “a great and brilliant day for the world.”
