Former IGP Moinul Appointed as Bangladesh's New Ambassador to Poland

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Moinul Islam has been appointed as Bangladesh’s new ambassador to Poland. The Public Administration Ministry’s Foreign Contracts and Investment Branch issued a notification regarding the appointment on Thursday, April 10.

The notification states that Moinul has been appointed on a contractual basis as ambassador to Poland, on the condition that he resigns from any other profession, business, or affiliation with any government, semi-government, private organization, or institution. Other terms of the appointment will be outlined in the contract. The order will take immediate effect in the public interest.

Moinul Islam was appointed IGP on August 5, the day after the fall of the Awami League government in a mass uprising. However, on November 20 of the same year, he was removed from the post, and retired police officer Baharul Alam was appointed as the new IGP.

Following his removal from the IGP position, a notification was issued on November 26 assigning him to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in preparation for an ambassadorial role. He has now officially been appointed as the ambassador to Poland.
