48 Sent to Jail in Narail in 3 Cases Over Attack on Anti-Discrimination Student Protest
A court in Narail has denied bail and ordered the imprisonment of 48 leaders and activists of the Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, and affiliated organizations, including Mostafa Kamal Leon, former vice-chairman of Lohagara Upazila, in connection with three cases filed over an attack on an anti-discrimination student protest.

On Thursday (April 10) around noon, Lohagara Amli Court's Senior Judicial Magistrate Sabrina Chowdhury issued the order.

The court’s Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Advocate Azizul Islam confirmed the matter to people's time.
He said that on August 4 last year, an attack took place during an anti-discrimination student protest in Lohagara, Narail. In connection with this, three separate cases were filed. All 48 accused from the Awami League and its affiliated organizations appeared before the court seeking bail, but Judge Sabrina Chowdhury rejected their bail petitions and ordered them to be sent to jail.

During the bail hearing, security was tightened in the court premises with the presence of army and police personnel. Following the rejection of bail, the accused were taken to Narail District Jail under army and police escort.
