Case Filed Against Former KUET VC, Chhatra League President Among

Case Filed Against Former KUET VC, Chhatra League President Among Two separate cases have been filed against 15 individuals, including former Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Professor Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, former Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sobhan Mia, and former president of the KUET unit of Chhatra League, Safayat Hossain Noyon. The cases were filed on Monday at Khanjahan Ali Police Station by two former KUET students, Lutfor Rahman and Mahdi Hasan. The details came to light after the case documents were submitted to the court on Tuesday. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khanjahan Ali Police Station, Kabir Hossain, stated that on the night of May 1, 2017, student Lutfor Rahman was beaten throughout the night in the guest room of Lalon Shah Hall, resulting in the failure of both of his kidneys. On the same night, another student, Mahdi Hasan, was assaulted, causing damage to his eyes. The victims applied to file a case in the Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on February 16. Following the court’s directive, the cases were formally registered at the police station on Monday. In Lutfor Rahman’s case, the accused include: Former VC Professor Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Hossain Former Pro-VC Professor Dr. Sobhan Mia Former Registrar GM Shahidul Islam Former Chhatra League President Safayet Hossain Noyon Former General Secretary Ali Imtiaz Sohan Chhatra League activists Md. Asaduzzaman, Rudroneel Singh Shuvo (later KUET BCL president), HM Tanvir Rezwan Siddique, Al Ishmam, Reshad Rahman, Tarikul Tilok, Parimal Kumar Roy, Ali Ibnul Sani, Tarik Ahmed Shrabon Then OC of Daulatpur Police Station, Anwar HossainIn Mahdi Hasan’s case, the accused include the same former KUET officials and Chhatra League leaders as above, along with: Former KUET BCL General Secretary Sadman Nahiyan Sejan BCL activists from Bangabandhu Hall: Abir Swapnil, Tashrif Saleh Rahul, Faisal, Mosharur Alam Kaushik, Asaduzzaman Riyan Parimal Kumar Roy, Tarik Ahmed Shrabon Former OC of Daulatpur Police Station, SM Anwar Hossain |
