The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has frozen the bank accounts of Mostafa Kamal, Chairman of Meghna Group—one of the country’s leading consumer goods importers—along with those of his family members. The BFIU has also requested all related transaction details and information. A letter regarding this matter was recently sent to all banks.

According to the letter, the personal accounts of Mostafa Kamal, his wife Beauty Akter, and their children must be suspended for the next 30 days. Additionally, all transaction records, account opening forms, KYC documents, and other relevant information of these individuals and their children must be submitted to the BFIU.
