“Mousumi Mahmud has been promoted to the post of Deputy Secretary.”

The government has promoted 268 officers holding the rank of Senior Assistant Secretary from various cadres, including the BCS Administration cadre.

Mousumi Mahmud is one of them. After serving as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Gangni in Meherpur, she was promoted to the position of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Jamalpur district. She became well-known in Jamalpur for her efficiency, and as a result, the Ministry of Public Administration has promoted her to the rank of Deputy Secretary.

A separate notification regarding this promotion was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday, August 28. According to ministry officials, officers of the 30th BCS batch have been promoted from Senior Assistant Secretary to Deputy Secretary. As per promotion rules, a Senior Assistant Secretary is eligible for promotion to Deputy Secretary after completing five years in that post and at least ten years of service in total. Officers of the 30th BCS batch became eligible on June 3, 2022, but their promotion process had been delayed for a long time.

Following last year’s mass uprising and the assumption of power by the interim government, a large-scale promotion process has been initiated across various levels of the administration and government.
