![]() Controversial decision by the Bangladesh College of Physicians regarding FCPS; doctors left disappointed According to a notice issued by BCPS, FCPS trainees will no longer be able to choose their training institutions freely. Instead, a fixed number of trainees will be assigned to each training unit through an automated, merit-based allocation system. In addition, the previous stipend policy will be changed. Only the top 1,000 trainees, selected on the basis of merit, will be eligible to receive a stipend. Furthermore, BCPS has made it mandatory for trainees to complete two years of training at Upazila Health Complexes. These decisions have sparked dissatisfaction among members of the medical community. A physician, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: "BCPS is treating FCPS trainees unfairly. Instead of being student-friendly, it is taking steps that could further lower the standard and quality of the qualification." The physicians also called for the immediate withdrawal of these decisions.
