![]() Dhaka Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Actress Pori Moni After Cancelling Bail A Dhaka court on Wednesday cancelled the bail of actress Pori Moni and issued an arrest warrant against her in a case involving alleged assault, vandalism, and intimidation filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud. Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman issued the order after the plaintiff petitioned for the revocation of her bail during a scheduled hearing for witness testimony. Although Pori Moni’s legal team requested an adjournment, stating that the actress was unable to attend court due to an allergy-related illness, the court rejected the plea and issued the warrant. The case stems from a complaint filed by Nasir, president of the Dhaka Boat Club, in July 2021. According to the complaint, the incident occurred at the Boat Club in Savar shortly after midnight on 9 June 2021. Nasir alleged that Pori Moni demanded a bottle of premium whisky to take away without payment. Upon his refusal, she reportedly verbally abused him, threw a serving glass and her mobile phone at him inflicting head and chest injuries and vandalised club property while issuing death threats alongside her associates. In 2024, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted an investigation report finding preliminary evidence supporting the charges of assault and intimidation against Pori Moni and her costume designer, Junaid Bogdadi Jimmy (alias Jim). The report cleared a third named individual, Fatema Tuz Jannat Bonny, of all allegations. Pori Moni had previously surrendered before the court and obtained bail after a prior arrest warrant was issued in the same case.
