Padma Bridge’s another span to be installed tomorrow

The 31st span of the Padma Bridge will be installed on Wednesday. The span will be placed on the 25th and 26th pillars.

Padma Bridge Executive Engineer Dewan Md. Abdul Quader confirmed the matter to Daily Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the bridge department said in a press release on Monday that the 31st span of the Padma Bridge would be set up along the Shimulia-Kanthalbari naval channel. All types of ferries, launches, speedboats, trawlers and other vessels will be completely closed through this channel from 11 am to 7 pm that day.

In the meantime, vehicles using the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga highway have been advised to use alternative routes (Dhaka-Paturia-Bhanga) on Wednesday to avoid suffering. The bridge department has apologized to highway and waterway users for the temporary inconvenience.

If the 31st span is placed out of the total 41 spans, 10 more spans will remain. It is learned that new targets have been set for installing all the spans by November this year.

Meanwhile, China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the construction of the main bridge and Sino Hydro Corporation, another company of the country, is working on river management.
