The police have arrested former chief election commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda in the capital’s Uttara area.

Local people caught the ex-CEC on Sunday evening and handed him over to the police, confirmed Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Hafizur Rahman.

Earlier in the morning, BNP filed lawsuits against the CECs of three previous general elections on allegations of grossly rigging the voting process.

A five-member delegation, led by BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, submitted the application of lawsuit with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. In total, 24 individuals have been accused in the case including Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed, the CEC of 2014 election.
