Real Madrid's hopes of winning La Liga have all but faded after a defeat to Valencia. Now, following a loss to Arsenal, their Champions League journey also appears to be nearing its end, with the team taking a step toward elimination from the quarterfinals. The blame for both defeats is being directed at the experienced Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, if Real Madrid fails to overturn their first-leg loss and progress to the Champions League semifinals by defeating Arsenal in the second leg, Ancelotti — who led the club to both the league and Champions League titles last season — is expected to be sacked.

Real faces Arsenal on April 16 after a heavy 3–0 defeat in the first leg. Later, on April 26, they are set to play the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. Having already lost two El Clásicos this season, Ancelotti’s position appears increasingly fragile. Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that if Real fails the Arsenal test, Ancelotti is unlikely to remain in the dugout for the cup final against Barça.

If that happens, Castilla coach Raúl González could be appointed as interim manager. However, for the upcoming season, club president Florentino Pérez reportedly favors Xabi Alonso as Ancelotti’s successor. Alonso isn’t just the first choice — he’s also the second and third.

Rumors have long linked Ancelotti with the Brazilian national team. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) aims to finalize their new coach by early May, and Ancelotti is reportedly on their shortlist. If he is sacked in April following a Champions League exit, he could take charge of the Seleção, potentially coaching Real stars like Rodrygo, Vinícius Jr., and Militão at the international level.

Other candidates for the Brazil job include José Mourinho — a Champions League winner with three different clubs — and coaches with success in both European and Brazilian football: Jorge Jesus and young Portuguese manager Abel Ferreira of Palmeiras. According to Brazilian outlet Globo, one of these four is expected to be the next head coach of Brazil.
