The court has ordered the formal arrest of Barrister Turin Afroz, former prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, in connection with a murder case filed at Mirpur Police Station.Today, Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M.A. Azharul Islam issued the order following a petition by the investigating officer of the case. Around 11:30 a.m., Turin Afroz was brought to the courtroom under heavy police security, wearing a helmet and a bulletproof jacket. She was then formally shown arrested in the Mirpur Police Station murder case. After the arrest procedures were completed, she was taken from the courtroom towards the detention cell of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court. During this time, she was seen smiling. However, despite several questions from journalists, she did not respond. She was later escorted into the detention cell. Earlier, on the night of April 7, Turin Afroz was arrested during a raid at a residence in Uttara. In a case related to an attempted murder of a student named Abdul Jabbar, a leader of the anti-discrimination student movement, the court had granted a four-day remand for her on April 8. After the remand ended, she was sent to jail on April 12. |
