Young man hit and killed by train while filming on railway tracks at Kuril Bishwa Road

A young man was killed by a train coming from the opposite direction while he was standing on the railway tracks filming another train at Kuril Bishwa Road in the capital.

The deceased, Ishtiaq Ahmed Rafidh, was an undergraduate student at Rajshahi Government College. He had come to visit his aunt’s house in Khilkhet, Dhaka.

The accident occurred around 4:45 PM on Friday.

Rafidh's cousin, Mustafizur Rahman, a tenth-grade student at Kurmitola High School in Dhaka, was with him at the time of the incident.

Mustafiz said Rafidh was recording a video of a train heading from Tongi to Kamalapur using his mobile phone. While doing so, he was struck by another train coming from Dhaka on a different track. He died on the spot.

He added, “Bhaiya told me to watch out for any trains while he was filming. As he was recording, the other train came. I shouted to warn him, but he didn’t hear me. Then he fell under the train.”
