UK and India Agree to ‘Historic’ Trade Deal

UK and India Agree to ‘Historic’ Trade Deal

After nearly three years of negotiations, the United Kingdom and India have agreed to a ‘historic’ trade deal. The agreement is expected to make it easier for UK companies to export products such as alcohol and cars to India. On the other hand, India will receive tariff concessions on several goods exported to the UK, including clothing and footwear.

However, British government officials have stated that the deal will not lead to any changes in immigration policy.

To finalize the agreement, UK Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds and Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met in London last week.

UK Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the deal would bring “significant” benefits to both British consumers and businesses once it comes into effect.
