Murder Case Filed Against NCP and AB Party Leaders Along With 6 Others A murder case has been filed against six individuals, including NCP leader Raiyan Kashem and Jahangir Kashem, the Central Vice Chairman of the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, in connection with the killing of a youth named Ali Akbar at ‘Allawala Hatchery’ in Kuliyapara, Khurushkul, in Cox’s Bazar Sadar. Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Elias Khan confirmed that the case was officially registered late Tuesday night. The case was filed by the victim’s wife, Elmunnahar. The accused in the case are: Jahangir Kashem (60) His son, Raiyan Kashem (28), district leader of the NCP Tanvir Kashem (50), son of Abul Kashem Anwar (50), manager of Allawala Hatchery Mohammad Hossain (28), son of Ali Ahmad Md. Mizanur Rahman (19), son of Rezaul KarimAdditionally, 4–5 unidentified individuals have also been named as suspects. Among the accused, Raiyan Kashem, Mizan, and Anwar Hossain are currently in jail. Before the case was officially registered, Raiyan Kashem, who was already in police custody, was produced before the court under Section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Senior Judicial Magistrate Akhtar Javed of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Court ordered his remand in jail. Mizan and Hossain were also sent to jail on Monday. Defense lawyer Advocate Golam Faruk Khan Kaiser argued that Raiyan had no involvement in the murder. However, the court ordered his imprisonment as a suspect in the case. The court has also instructed the prison authorities to ensure proper medical care for Raiyan. It is noteworthy that Raiyan Kashem, now in jail, is a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement formed after the July uprising. He recently emerged as a district leader of the newly launched National Citizens' Party (NCP). The incident took place around 10 PM on Sunday at the Allawala Hatchery, located in Kuliyapara and Majhir Ghat areas of Khurushkul, where Ali Akbar was allegedly murdered. The victim was the son of the late Danu Mia from Kuliyapara, Khurushkul. |
