![]() Govt forms International Crimes Tribunal-2 to expedite trials Retired District and Sessions Judge Md Manjurul Bashid and Madaripur District and Sessions Judge Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir were appointed as tribunal members, entitled to salaries and benefits equivalent to High Court Division judges. The existing tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud, and retired Judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury, is now designated as ICT-1. Just before the notification, Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam announced on Facebook, “Provisions to try the (Awami) League as a party will be added. The fascist League will face trial. ICT-2 is formed to expedite this process.” Originally established in 1971 to prosecute 1971 Liberation War crimes, the tribunals now address crimes from the July Uprising and the 15.5-year Awami League regime, including genocide, disappearances, and murders. ICT-2 aims to streamline these proceedings amid a heavy caseload.
