Abidul Islam, Chhatra Dal’s (JCD) vice president candidate for DUCSU polls, did not violate regulations by entering a polling centre, and the Bangla daily publishing the news has apologized for the misreporting.
Abidul had full right to visit polling booths at the Physical Education Training Center on Tuesday morning, as per the regulations.
The centre’s Returning Officer Kazi Mostak Gausul mistakenly claimed that a candidate had no right to enter a polling centre.
As per Section 12(B) of the election code of conduct, “No one other than election officials and staff, candidates, polling agents, and persons authorized by the returning officer can enter the polling center.”
