![]() People will resist plot to obstruct implementation of election pledges: PM "As long as the people continue to support us, we – the BNP – will, Inshaallah, continue working for the people and the country. We will not deviate from that path even by an inch," he said. The prime minister made the remarks while addressing a public gathering around 4:45pm after inaugurating the re-excavation of Bishwa Canal adjacent to Ghosher Hat in Kumarduli village under Shah Mahmudpur union in Chandpur Sadar upazila. Noting that the government has already started implementing the election manifesto, he said, "Now when we have started canal excavation programme, distributing family cards and farmer cards, giving honorarium allowances for imams and muezzins, and tree plantation campaigns in different parts of the country, a small group of people has begun spreading misleading information and creating conspiracies." Tarique said the people of Bangladesh made a conscious decision in the 12 February election and gave their mandate to the BNP. "So, today, before thousands of people, I want to clearly say that we will implement, one by one, the promises and plans for which we received the support of the people," he added. "If anyone tries to obstruct this work and sabotage these initiatives, the people of Bangladesh themselves will definitely resist their plans and conspiracies. We will not need to do anything," Tarique Rahman said. "So let's implement the programmes that will help change the fate of the people of this country." Calling upon the people to remain alert so that no one can obstruct the government's people-friendly programmes, including canal excavation, family card, farmer card and employment generation activities, the prime minister said, "Today, at this Bishwa Canal re-excavation programme, let's all make a pledge that we will stay alert and aware. We will not fall into the traps of those who spread confusion." Stressing the need for building the country, he said, "We have only one objective and that is – we have to build this country and change the fate of the country's people. We have already started that." He reiterated that the people are the source of BNP's political strength. "That is why we have launched these programmes taking the people with us...as long as the people support us, we will continue working for them." The prime minister urged everyone to work for building the country and said, "Let's pledge today that this is our country. In 1971, this country was liberated by our freedom fighters. Now it is our turn to build it. Together, Inshaallah, we will build our beloved motherland into the Bangladesh we have always dreamed of." Local lawmaker and district BNP President Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik presided over the event. Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Agriculture and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister AZM Zahid Hossain, Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin, lawmakers Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu and Rasheda Begum Hira, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun were present at the event, among others.
