Switzerland will continues to evaluate additional response activities to prevent and mitigate C ![]() Coronavirus: Switzerland earmarks Tk25 crore for Bangladesh Switzerland is standing by Bangladesh in facing coronavirus crisis and implementing an effective response, as nations around the globe suffer from challenges posed the pandemic. Switzerland has already earmarked 2.8 million CHF or approximately Tk25 crore for immediate response activities in Bangladesh, which will be implemented through local and international partner organizations, a press release from Embassy of Switzerland said on Saturday. In collaboration with the Government of Bangladesh, civil society, development partners and donor organizations, Switzerland continues to evaluate additional response activities to prevent and mitigate Covid-19 risks in Bangladesh even better and faster. Switzerland has further committed 14.4 Million CHF or Tk126 crore to the UN’s global Covid-19 appeal as well as the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement (IFCR and ICRC), the release also said. On Tuesday, the United Kingdom aannounced an aid of nearly Tk218 crore - around £21 million - to help the Bangladesh government carry out its plans to fight the coronavirus outbreak, as set out in the national preparedness and response plan. On April 4, the World Bank approved a fast-track $100 million support for Bangladesh to prevent, detect, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic and strengthen its systems for public health emergencies.
