WhatsApp finally allows 8 members on a video call

WhatsApp now allows you to make group video calls with up to eight people at once. Previously, it was possible to do a video call with four people at a time.

In times of social distancing, communicating with people for spending leisure or official work often requires some sort of video conference calls. For this reason, Video conferencing app ‘Zoom’ has gained huge popularity in the last few weeks.

Facebook on Friday launched Messenger Rooms that will allow group video calls of up to 50 people. With that, Facebook joins the party. Microsoft and Google have their own platforms for that purpose, but WhatsApp wants to join the game too.

This feature was recently introduced in the beta version. This time, WhatsApp said, eight people, can take advantage of video calls at once. And according to Facebook, from next week, all WhatsApp customers will be able to use this feature.

In a recent Facebook post, Mark Zuckerberg, the head of the company, revealed the feature of eight simultaneous video calls from WhatsApp. He said 70 crore regular subscribers make calls using WhatsApp and Messenger. This time, eight people can join WhatsApp calls instead of four to keep in touch with loved ones.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart said on Twitter that the feature will reach all iPhone and Android customers by next week.
