Actor Rishi Kapoor dies

Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has passed away at the age of 67, local media reported on Thursday citing his family members.

Hindustan Times reported that the veteran actor breathed his last at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. His wife and actor Neetu Kapoor was by his side. He fought a two-year-long battle with cancer.

Amitabh Bachchan confirmed the news on Twitter. “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”

Earlier on Wednesday, his elder brother actor Randhir Kapoor confirmed that the actor had been taken to hospital. Rishi is suffering from cancer and he has some breathing problem, so he has been admitted to the hospital, he said.

In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer, following which the actor was in New York, USA, for more than a year to receive treatment. He returned to India in September last year after recovering.

Rishi Kapoor was taken to hospital twice in February this year - first in New Delhi, where he was attending a family event, and then in Mumbai.
